The first PACE Network Meeting (NM1) took place in Amsterdam from 22 to 25 May in Amsterdam and hosted by PACE network partner Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU).
It began with a visit to MOTEK Forcelink and a demonstration of the Virtual Reality environment application. On Monday, ESRs presented their project advancement through oral presentations of 15 minutes followed by 15 minutes of questions and discussion.
The second day the PACE partners’ meeting was followed by discussions between ESRs and PIs to formalise secondments. ESRs attended lectures in Ethical, legal and social implications of biotechnology and bio-medicine, by Doret de Ruyter, professor of Philosophy of Education at VU. Romano Beitsma opened training and transferable skills sessions with a lecture on Intellectual Property and Research (patents). ESRs enjoyed a boat tour around Amsterdam to close the day.
The last day, Dr Sam Nolan from Durham University organised training in cohort building and research integrity with group activities.
