About me…

Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

I come from Scotland where I pursued an undergraduate degree in Anatomy at the University of Glasgow. Following this interest I sought to combine technology and human function with a Masters in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. I now work, live and cycle in Amsterdam as part of the PACE project.

Why I joined PACE…

The PACE project offered an exciting opportunity to push myself at an early stage in my career. To be involved in an international project, with a leading industrial partner is a huge benefit as it provides both quality research experience and an understanding of the application of your work. The collaboration, training and travel across Europe associated with the network is something that really interested me.

My Project…

Walking is key to function in daily life, in conditions such as cerebral palsy walking ability is reduced. My project uses the GRAIL, an advanced treadmill system with motion capture and immersive virtual reality. Using this we can give feedback to children with cerebral palsy, in real-time, during walking on key aspects of walking such as knee extension and power generation at the ankle. By testing walking ability, with feedback on different aspects, we may gain more information about the cause of the problem. Feedback can also be used to train improved walking in a fun, purposeful gaming environment.
